Phishing Scam Alert
A phishing scam is now targeting Online Banking and Business Banking end users by sending e-mails that appear to be from Cumberland Security Bank or Digital Insight sources. (Digital Insight is the company that hosts the CSB Online Banking and Business Banking web sites). The scam is designed to trick recipients into clicking a link in the fraudulent e-mail for the purpose of acquiring sensitive data, such as passwords or financial information.
The most common example we have seen includes the following:
Subject: Attention - Important Customer Information
Body: As a Cumberland Security Bank customer, your privacy and security is a primary task for us. We have been dedicated to customer safety and protection and our mission remains as strong as ever. We inform you that your Net Banking account is about to expire. It is strongly recommended to update it immediately. Update form is located here: [LINK]
Please note the following:
At this time, we are not aware of any successful fraudulent login attempts using information obtained from these phishing e-mails. Digital Insight's Security team has already shut down many of the web sites that have been reported and will continue to do so as long as such efforts do not block legitimate clients from accessing their accounts.
If you believe you have shared critical account information (passwords, etc.) with a fraudulent entity, please contact Cumberland Security Bank at (606) 679-9361 and let us assist you in changing your login identification and passwords to prevent illegitimate attempts from accessing your accounts.
