Cumberland Security Bank understands that at times, unanticipated expenses or unforeseen problems can leave you with too little cash in your checking account. Having a check returned due to insufficient funds can be a costly, inconvenient and potentially embarrassing experience.
An insufficient balance can result from several events such as (1) the payment of checks, electronic funds transfers or other withdrawal requests; (2) payments authorized by you; (3) the return of unpaid items deposited by you; (4) bank service charges; or (5) the deposit of items which, according to the banks Funds Availability Policy, are treated as not yet available or finally paid. Whether your overdrafts will be paid is discretionary and Cumberland Security Bank reserves the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, or you are not making regular deposits, or you have too many overdrafts. The non-sufficient fee applies to overdrafts created by check, in-person withdrawal, ATM withdrawal, or other electronic means as applicable (including bank service charges, check printing charges).
The best way to avoid overdrafts and fees is to keep track of your account balance by entering all items in your check register, reconcile your checkbook regularly and manage your finances responsibly. However, if a mistake occurs, Cumberland Security Bank offers options to cover overdrafts: Automated Overdraft Privilege and Cash Reserve.
If you do not restore your overdrawn account to a positive balance within 30 days, your participation in the Automated Overdraft Privilege will be terminated.
The Automated Overdraft Privilege will be available for all checks written, in-person withdrawals, and ACH transactions. The Automated Overdraft Privilege will only be available for your ATM and everyday debit card transactions if you authorize the bank by completing a consent form or by providing the bank with verbal authorization to do so. You may contact a bank representative for more information at any of our bank locations or call us at 606-679-9361.
You may opt out of the $500.00 Automated Overdraft (AOD) Privilege at any time by contacting the bank at 606-679-9361 or visiting any of our branch locations; however, you are responsible for any overdrawn balance at time of opting out.
